I liked this follow-up but I enjoyed Salt a lot more. There were just a few scenarios in this one that were a little too unbelievable and the plot just wasn't as entertaining to me. I just got the 'I've been there done that' feeling. If you haven't read a ton of other post-apocalyptic stories though you'll probably enjoy it more then I did.

a good easy read, good story with enough action to keep you locked in, enjoyed it
I love this one just as much as I do "Salt". Another well done read by Mr. Barnes.
Though Eva, an American, would never say "you lot". -)
I will be honest I barely made it half way through before I started skimming. Without too many spoilers I felt like the author became bored with how he wrote the first book and decided to shake things up a bit. Which merely resulted in imaginary relationship problems and stupid decisions. The price of the book was low but still act like you care! It was an interesting idea but what he did to the characters made it a high school drama at sea.
It painted a picture of the Flotilla that let me smell the sea water and feel the wind. A really nice variety of characters. How could a background like this be much of an adventure? Could not put it down . For those who may not fully appreciate where we live it may just give them food for thought.
I haven't read a good science fiction story such as this in a long time. The story line and characters was well thought out.I realized the author was British, due to the spelling of some words. From the synopsis of the story , I knew I would enjoy it, and I thoroughly did!
I thought it was a good read. I found the whole “water world” a little perposterous but hey, i’ll bite. So the world is flooded and well yea, lotsa dead bodies and sharks! The plot was good enough to keep me reading. It was a nice break from the space opera usually inhale. All in all, the characters were well rounded and for better...human. Glad it wrapped up.
The survivors from the flotilla set out to discover the truth about what happened to the world. Where there really other survivors? Did they hold the key to what had happened and what the future held for all of them? A suspenseful story with an interesting conclusion. If you enjoyed Salt then you will like Soil.
